I am running Bginfo via GPO on Server 2008 r2 with Windows 7 clients. The bat file (below) is run by: User Configuration Policies Windows Settings Scripts (Logon/Logoff).Bat Filedomainnetlogonbginfobginfo.exedomainnetlogonbginfoadmin.bgi /timer:0 /nolicprompt /silentBginfo.exe runs successfully upon logon, however, it is not silent and still has a timer countdown.
In fact, it appears to run twice. After the first timer countdown it applies the out-of-the-box.bgi template, then it instantly opens a second time and after a second timer countdown, it applies the admin.bgi template. I have tried /timer:00 as well with no luck.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!.
Trying to make BGInfo work at startup, it doesn't do anything. Has anyone got it to work?? I know they say it's fixed for Win10, therefore it should work for Win2016, and the Sysinternals forum has no solutions either. I'll consider alternatives if there are any that are not bulky. I had BGInfo in the standard all users startup menu, nothing appears on screen.
I'm actually more interested in Windows Server 2016 but I included Win10 in my question b/c the OSes are similar. Using BGInfo defaults and /timer:0 in the shortcut, works properly on Win2k12 and Win2k8. Can't use a bgi b/c we need current info every time the server is opened for usage. Tested with BGInfo 4.22, manually running BGInfo does not work, it opens up, but does not put anything on the screen. Running BGInfo as a domain admin. Thank you, Tom Edited Jun 15, 2017 at 1:20 UTC.
We are using all the default settings and /timer:0 - therefore background and text color should not matter because BGInfo uses white text by default, and the background is black, which all appears properly in the preview. We can not use a bgi because we want updated information upon each startup/login. Addition: license accepted, we don't need /accepteula, it's only running for one user that logs in. Command is C: BGInfo Bginfo.exe /timer:0, starting in C: BGInfo in the shortcut 'Start In' line. We tested with a bgi anyway and saw no display either. Nothing appears onscreen.
