Well, your original post was pretty accurate, but the additional detail gives assurance that something else wasn't happening that might have been overlooked.You are experiencing what I'd call erratic operation of the inducer motor. Sometimes it runs and sometimes it doesn't. The furnace wont heat up unless the inducer motor is running.When the thermostat calls for heat the first thing that happens is that the inducer motor should turn on and stay on as long as the thermostat continues to call for heat. So the first thing to do is to use an AC voltmeter to check and see if the thermostat is shutting off the inducer motor.Connect one test lead to chassis ground and the other to the W terminal on the furnace and see if the 24 VAC from the thermostat stays on when the inducer motor shuts off.If the inducer motor shuts off when the 24 VAC shuts off, then it's the thermostat that needs to be checked out.
